While there is no shortage of people looking to think twink when looking for someone to share a life (or even just the night) there is a reason that McDonalds doesn’t only serve hamburgers: lots of people prefer a fish filet. So, too, are many gay men searching for someone with a little bit of meat on their bones.
GMPD, which we have discussed before, describes a wide range of larger men in the gay scene. As a brief recap, G is for “gacchiri,” or “robust”; M is “mucchiri,” or “thicc”; P stands for “pocchari,” or “chubby”; finally, D is “debu,” which means “overweight.” Big cuddly guys are popular in Japan, but… where should you do to meet your teddy bear?

What Is a GMPD Party?
Well, this essentially does what it says on the tin: this is a party for GMPD men and those who love them. While there are certain bars that have a reputation for attracting GMPD men on a regular basis, sometimes venues will hold a special evening just for the big fellas. While we can’t list every single such event, here are a few highlights.
List of Upcoming GMPD parties in Japan
CHUNKS
One of Nichome’s most beloved cruising bars, Dock sets itself apart from a lot of other bars in the neighborhood by offering a selection of Japanese sake, rather than shochu, vodka, or other spirits.
On October 12, 2025, it will be collaborating with the D-light and Boiler Room clubs to host the eighth iteration of the CHUNKS event. Billing itself as “the definition of a GMPD and bear hardcore muscle party,” promising gogo dancers aplenty, showcasing both first-timers and favorites, including the imposing masked wrestler Shachi.

gafas x Slit
The AiSOTOPE Lounge is arguably Nichome’s top LGBTQ+ nightclub, with two floors and a reputation for holding incredible events regularly. If you have a particular interest, then it’s always worth keeping an eye on their calendar, as they’ll probably have something for your niche sooner or later.
And speaking of niches within niches, on October 10, 2025, AiSOTOPE Lounge will be hosting gafas x Slit, a party that not only welcomes GMPD guys, but is also for boys who wear glasses, and the boys who like them! It has gogo dancers, drag queens, and a dozen DJs spinning late into the night. Try not to steam up your glasses!

CROSSING
Moving out of Tokyo for a moment, Explosion is a club in Osaka’s Doyamacho gay district: the Nichome of western Japan. It is welcoming to foreigners, and regularly has shows. You can read more about it in our Doyamacho guide これ.
CROSSING is a men’s only GMPD event (sorry to any Kansai おこげ out there) with a veritable feast of attractions. In addition to nearly a dozen gogo dancers and three DJs, it will also have drag queen performances, as well as GMPD “shotgun boy” bar staff!

Annual Events
There are also events that, while concluded for 2025, occur every year. Make sure to keep an eye on the social media accounts of the following accounts to find the perfect GMPD party for 2026.
SUMMER KREAMM
Held annually in Shinojima, an island off the coast of Aichi prefecture, Summer Kreamm is an annual muscle party. Usually held in late August, it is always packed with gogo dancers, hot beats from hot DJs, and sexy summer vibes. Even if you can’t make it person, you can join remotely and watch a stream, so that you can be there in spirit!
agarthajapan
One of Japan’s biggest parties, agarthajapan is held every year, and is held in ZEROTOKYO, a tower in the nightlife district of Kabukicho, Shinjuku. It is packed with dancers, DJs, and bartender hotties from Nichome gay bars for an all-night party. Flashy, fierce, and fun, it is one of the best places to be for muscle men.
