Let’s go, lesbians! 2026 has, as we have discussed, been going nuts from the start, when it comes to media about ladies who love ladies — and the culture around it. We started strong with Cosmic Princess Kaguya!, and then fell into drama with a manga adaptation of the same. But much as we love our movies, where, oh where, are our yuri TV series?
Well, be prepared to be shell-shocked (in a good way) my sapphic souls! In a mere few months we are going to have the debut of a new Girls’ Love (GL) anime: I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day! So what is it about? What can you look forward to?

Based on the manga of the same name (Kimi ga Shinu made Koi wo Shitai in Japanese) by Aono Nachi, we are introduced to a world where war, suffering, and death are a part of life. We zoom into an orphanage, where young girls are given regular schooling — as well as the expectation that they will die soon, as their lives in this war-torn nation mean very little.
It is here that we meet your heroine, and mine, Sheena Totsuki, a youngster who, despite being raised in a a society that glorifies and idealizes war, killing, and death on the battlefield, is a pacifist who despises the idea of combat.
Her world is thrown upside down, however, when she has a chance meeting with Mimi Kagari, who is conversely unconcerned with the human cost of war… which may not be a total surprise, as she is capable of killing with ease, and can regenerate from even fatal wounds.
The two are assigned as roommates, and slowly become closer, as the cynical pacifist born into a world of war learns to love a girl who exists as a living weapon.
The July Crisis

A critically acclaimed manga, fans have been clamoring for an animated adaptation since it was first published in 2019. After a long war of attrition against hopelessness, devotees were finally rewarded in March 2025 with confirmation that the adored comic was going to be put on television. However, it wasn’t until recently that we got the long-awaited trailer, which you can see here.
As our beloved readers will know, yuri anime are becoming more popular, and a big part of the appeal is the difference between — and similarities of — our leadings ladies. The dichotomy between a peace-loving girl born into a world of war, and the weariness that brings upon her soul, and the energetic, thrilled to be here spirit of an immortal, norn to kill weapon in the form of a young woman are a match made in heaven.
We have a few months to wait before we begin our battle: which is to say, trying desperately not to scream and wake our neighbors as each new episode is released. Until then, when it comes to I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day, We Will Wait Till Your Release Day.
