Tokyo is not just the largest metropolis in the world, but it is a hub of culture and history. Behind almost every corner, you could find a business run by the same family for generations, a new pop-up cafe that will be here only for a fleeting moment, or a piece of history known only to locals, part of a truly enriching experience.
But sometimes, we just want to party!
That’s where JGG Night Tours can help. Our experienced and knowledgeable guides can, naturally, talk you through the history of Nichome and Japan’s LGBTQ+ past, but they also know how to get the maximum fun out of your evening as you pound the pavement around Tokyo’s gaytown. How is your fun maximized? Well, let us tell you!
First-hand Knowledge
“I became a JGG guide to share the unique history and vibrant energy of Tokyo’s LGBTQ+ community with visitors from around the world,” one of the JGG Tour Guides says. This vibrant energy is nowhere more present than in the nightlife of Nichome, which is alive with pleasure and joy throughout the night. On a JGG Night Tour, you can experience this first-hand, with a little edge.

JGG’s tour guides are experienced taking pleasure, and sometimes even working, in the bars on our set night tour. As such, they not only know the staff — and perhaps how to catch their eye — but they know a thing or two ab out what makes these places special. Perhaps there’s a cocktail that’s particular to this bar, or a delicious snack that they serve. Whatever the case, you’ll be able to see and experience the best of Nichome on your trip.
Breaking the Ice
In no small part because our tours are helmed by folks who’ve been around the block in Nichome a few times, they are easy-going, relaxed, and are great fun to be around. So if you’re going it alone, or with your partner, and you’re worried that a little natural shyness will turn you into a wallflower for the night, then have no fear — the party goes where you go.

And this goes double if you join in a group with other people. When you link up with other visitors to Japan, it’s easy to make friends for the night, or maybe even for life! Drinking together, talking together, and swapping experiences and travel tips is one foundation for an incredible evening. Who knows? Perhaps you’ll hear about a place to visit you’d never considered before.
Getting Funky
Pleasant though it is to spend a night sipping (or gulping) tasty beverages to help you relax and unwind, it’s also a whole lot of fun to let loose on the floor, and that’s exactly what you can do on a JGG Night Tour. One of the bars on our route, Friends, is a karaoke bar, so after a couple of pre-drinks at King Tokyo and AiIRO, you can grab the mike and let your dulcet tones serenade everyone around you (or, of course, you can just listen!).

At the end of the night, you’ll come to Kingdom, one of the newest and liveliest nightspots in Nichome. In addition to drag queen shows and gogo boy dancers, you’ll be able to show off some of your fancy footwork on the dancefloor. And if you’re good at pole dancing, you’ll be able to show off even more!
In Summary
Nichome has a long history of queer advocacy, radical activism, and community spirit, but it’s also just hands-down one of the most fun places in all of Japan. Don’t miss your chance to have the night of your life with JGG Night Tours.
