As we leave April, and move into not only Golden Week and May showers (don’t get those terms mixed up), we’re going to take a moment to look back on the week that was in Gay Japan. LGBTQ+ Rights News: Homophobia Spread in Sapporo by Japanese Politician

The Japanese public — and especially the younger generations — hold a highly positive view of LGBTQ+ people, and the majority of the public support marriage equality. This does not mean, however, that there are not those who are working to stop the flow of progress in Japan. On 18 April, we saw one such example by Sohei Kamiya, the leader of Sanseito, during a speech in the capital city of Hokkaido, Sapporo.
