There were a few major titles for lesbian anime in 2025, including Bad Girl and Watanare, both of which were — to varying degrees — well received. But this year promises to be even more powerful! In addition to the delightful Cosmic Princess Kaguya, there are a number of yuri anime that have either on the verge of release… or have already started! Here’s our top five picks of things to look forward to, or get on board with.
I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day

We covered this in slightly more detail here, but as a quick reminder for our time-pressured readers: this story is an adaptation of the fan and critical darling manga of the same name. The story is one set in a world of war, where martial prowess, and the willingness to kill and die, are the most prized attributes a person can possess. However, our protagonist Sheena Totsuki is a pacifist.
As she navigates this world of violence, she comes into contact with human weapon Mimi Kagari, who is as unconcerned with killing people as you are with breathing. Nevertheless, the two different personalities slowly get closer, and as they do, romance begins to blossom — of course, because they live together. Oh my god, they were roommates.
Kamiina Botan, Her Drunken Appearance Like a Lily Flower

Sometimes, it takes a little bit of social lubricant to help us get close to people. And that is what this anime is about: getting a little bit loose with those you trust the most, discovering something about them, and discovering something about yourself at the same time.
Our eponymous heroine, Botan Kamiina, is a university student who has recently turned 20: the drinking age in Japan. She doesn’t enjoy sparkling drinks — which includes beer — as they tend to make her burp. Soon, however, she becomes close to Ibuki Tonami, who also is nervous about drinking, but only because of her hiccups. The two soon become drinking partners… and perhaps more?
Does It Count If You Lose Your Virginity to an Android?

A somewhat concept-driven manga — although perhaps the concept may have been made to drive the desire — this is also a touch lewd, so caveat emptor if you’re not into things that are explicit. Remember Unexpectedly Naughty Fukami? Well, this is the yuri version of that.
Our heroine, Akane Tsuda, is a successful professional working in the technology sector, and is highly respected in her field. However, in her personal life, she’s a mess: she drinks too much, doesn’t clean, and she’s never had a lover, at the age of 28. In a stupor, she decides to hire a maid to clean her apartment — but accidentally buys a woman-form sex robot. This escalates as the robot, Nadeshiko, intuits all of her new owner’s needs through the lens of sexuality.
Like Unexpectedly Naughty Fukami, this is Ex. Pli. Cit. DO NOT WATCH AT WORK (I did for three minutes, and my colleague laughed at me…). For those who have some time alone at home and like robot girls, though, you could do far worse!
Roll Over and Die

A fantasy adventure show based on the manga of the same name, we find ourselves in a world of magic, swords, and demons. The protagonist of our tale, Flum Apricot, is chosen to be a part of the great hero’s party to defeat evil! Except… her power of “reversal” seems pretty useless… and she doesn’t have any other attributes. So the great hero sells her into slavery. What a hero.
But it is in these circumstances that she discovers that her power actually turns the negative energy of curses on items into a positive energy. With this power, she breaks free from slavery, and takes another slave girl with her. The two move through the world together, facing threats, and avoiding the law of the church. With time, their camaraderie turns into something more.
For the ladies who love ladies, this is a not inconsiderable list to be getting on with for the first half of 2026! The world is one step closer to everything being Girls’ Love!
