Fun Lesbian Events in Japan

Tobias Waters

If you go through LGBTQ+ websites that focus on Tokyo, you’ll often see listings for general queer events, and a ton of men-only events, especially in Nichome — but what about events for queer women? When our L, B, T, and Q girls want to go somewhere other than their trusty regular bar, where can they go?

Fret not! Here are a trio of fun events that are women only, and not held every day, to give you something to look forward to.

A monthly party that is strictly women-only, Diamond Cutter always has a different theme. On November 8 2025, the theme is “yamikawa,” roughly translated as “sickeningly cute.” You can expect to see gothic lolita fashions, modified school uniforms, and the interestingly described “mental health” fashion.

Held at Tide Tokyo in Shinjuku, guests can look forward to DJs Mano, Pink Salon, and Neo, with dancers including YURI, MAME, and SAYAKA. Come for a cuteness overload that could leave you with a fever!

This one is for those who like things a little more on the spicy side. Arcadia Tokyo in Kabukicho is a BDSM bar that has events catering to people of many tastes, with events for beginners and pros, with the main rule being that no one may judge or laugh at someone else for their interests.

Bian & By Night is a women-only BDSM night held every few months, where any ladies looking for a partner — whether casual or long term, domme, sub or switch — can come to meet the woman of their dreams. Like any good BDSM bar, no pressure from other customers is accepted, so even first-timers or the curious can feel safe.

Ladykiller and L Room

Venturing out to Japan’s second city of Osaka, we find Ladykiller. One of the most anticipated and beloved parties among the Kansai sapphic community, this year, it’s year-end party will be held at the iconic Explosion club, in conjunction with L Room, another women-only Osaka event that takes place every two months.

The combination of these two powerhouses of the Osaka lesbian scene will last until 4am, and this year’s theme is “Girl Power.” So if you’ve ever wanted to be spicy, sporty, sexy, posh, or even baby in the home of Takoyaki, then here is your chance to zig-a-zig-ah!

Although, sadly, the sapphic community is not as well catered to when it comes to events in Japan as are gay men, there are still opportunities for women who love women in the Land of the Rising Sun to cut loose, cut a rug, and enjoy their community as much as anyone else.
